Sunday.  Another wonderful day of Conference.  Love General Conference!  I just soak in the words of wisdom.  I feel renewed and motivated.  This weekend has been extra special because Riley -on his own- has watched every session of conference!  Saturday morning while recording conference, we went to the kids soccer games.  Riley didn't want to go, but didn't say why.  I came back home to grab Brenna's goalie gloves and saw Riley intently watching conference.  At first I thought he had heard me open the garage and "assumed the position" :)  , that is the paranoid mother in me.  But later he told me a few things that I had missed and then was the first to turn on the TV for the afternoon session.  This continued all weekend and I am a happy mom!  I have always hoped to instill a love of General Conference in my children.  I remember before we had BYU channel on our TV, taking Riley to conference at the stake center as a baby and as a toddler.  Bringing snacks and books and toys hoping that I would be able to  "listen" to as much as I could with a baby in tow.  I remember thinking that it was important that I just GO, even if I didn't hear every word.  That maybe just by our example, our children would know how important it was to hear from our prophet.   ... Yes, it has been a good weekend!

Saturday.  Soccer games and Conference.  Vince is coaching Preston and Wyatt's team this year.  Brenna also had a game today and Nana and Papa were able to come out to watch.  Vince has been working with the school to help improve our soccer field.  I'm very proud of his efforts and it made a huge difference for todays games.  We love our little place on earth.  Red Rock is still such a small neighborhood, but it has many wonderful people who are all working for the same goal of making our community a great place to live.

We also enjoyed General Conference.  Oh, how I look forward to Conference!  Today was a big day for Preston who got to attend his first Priesthood Session.  (Although not as easy as it sounds!)  Vince's new schedule is 1-9pm.  AWFUL, I KNOW!  Vince made a lot of effort to make sure he could take our boys to the Priesthood session.  After some issues, Vince was allowed to use some vacation hours, so he could take off early to go to conference.  I hope my boys see the sacrifice (without the complaining) that their dad makes on their behalf.  I also hope they see how important it is to hear the words of our prophet.  I'm so thankful for Vince and what a great example he is to our family.  So thankful today! :)

Thursday.  Let me start out by saying that I had to think for a minute about how to access my blog account... I have definately been MIA.  Missing out on blogging (writing in my journal), amidst all the action of the Heflin household.  Last night as I waited for Riley at the activity bus stop, I was leafing through a NEW ERA magazine.  The page I glanced at was an old talk given by President Erying, entitled "O Remember, Remember" from the October 2007 General Conference.  This was THE talk that inspired me to start blogging back in 2007.  As I read the article, it felt as though I was getting a big ol' 2x4 across the head!! (Thanks Bro. Salmond, seminary days!:)   I do want to remember the wonderful blessings I have in my life, for there are so many!  I want my children to be able to look back and know that we were a normal, but very happy family growing up.  I want to document memories to pass on to their children.  It HAS to become a priority!!

 President Eyring said, "When our children were very small, I started to write down a few things about what happened every day.  I never missed a day no matter how tired I was or how early I would have to start the next day. ... I would ponder this question, "Have I seen HIS hand in my life?"

Priorities... are a funny thing.  I will be working on it! :)

Friday.  Preston was excited to finally finish and turn in his diorama today.  It is part of a project that he has been working on for a few weeks.  5th grade is wrapping up and it is hard to imagine my Preston will be in MIDDLE SCHOOL next year!  Yikes!  5th grade is a big year.  Lots of changes!  I remember with Riley this being a pivotal year, and it has proven again to be the year of change.  Preston is such a kind friend to everyone he meets and encourages those around him.  2 teachers just told me last week how they depend on Preston to be a calming effect for a couple of students who struggle in class.  Preston works VERY hard at school and puts forth so much effort!  I am very proud of how diligently he works and what a good kid he is!!  Great job Preston!

Wednesday.  Wyatt's very fun teacher, Mrs. Egan, asked if I could come to school to help with a special surprise for the kids.  She found strawberries on a great sale and wanted to surprise her kids with dipping them in chocolate.  What a fun and BRAVE teacher Wyatt has!  It was fun to hang out with them for a little while and watch the excitement!!

Monday.  Bryant has been working on writing his name lately.  He doesn't love to do it.  I have to bribe him (see chocolate? :).  I'm excited to help Bryant learn this and many other fun things to get him ready for school someday.  I can't believe how big he is getting and know that before long he will be old and busy.  I want to remember this treasured time with my baby! (Yes, I know he really isn't a baby any more... but he will always be MY baby!)

Sunday.  Mothers Day!  I felt very pampered waking up to a pancake breakfast made by Riley!!  How sweet!!  I enjoyed all the nice cards my children made for me at school!  Vince made it back from work in time to go to church (which is a gift in itself, considering his new schedule:).  I enjoyed the candy bar given out to all the mothers after sacrament meeting.  I really enjoyed the 2nd candy bar given to me later in the hall because my children all downed the first one!  :)  I relaxed while Vince made dinner and the boys cleaned up after dinner.  What a wonderful Mothers Day!  I am very blessed to be surrounded by such a sweet family!  I am so thankful to be their mom!
