Saturday.  Brenna had a soccer game today.  She rocked it too, (even though her tummy wasn't feelng that great).  She was tough!  Her coach likes to refer to her as "the wall"!  Nothing gets past Brenna.

Tuesday.  Another busy day!  Today we had family pictures taken.  Why, oh why is that such a difficult thing to do??  Vince dreads this every time we do it.  The kids whine and complain, "we take pictures all the time, can't we just use one of those for the wall?"  ... but the absolute worst is me!!  ME I said!  I do not intend to wait until the last minute to pull our outfits together... but here I am on THE DAY of pictures, at the store looking for a shirt to wear.  Seriously!  Brenna was my shopping helper.  She is all decked out in an interesting outfit of her own with braids all over her head, per the request for kinky hair for the pictures.  I was only looking for a red shirt.  Can that be so hard?  Apparently YES!  But,  It is ok... all is well!  In the end, I just used an old shirt and guess what?  It all turned out just fine! In fact, thanks to our nice photographer, we had a really fun time taking pictures as a family.  Then we ran home to get to a soccer game for the boys.  No, ... we never stop!

Monday.  This was the day we finally made it bowling!  The kids have wanted to go bowling since the end of summer. How is it already FALL BREAK?  Well, better late than never! 
We had a blast!!  What a fun day out together!  The kids were giggly and happy!  Vince and I were pretty rusty, but we pulled it out... showed the kids how it's done.  :) haha
Well, we had a good time anyway...

Sunday.  Sundays have been a little tough these days.  Vince has a new and unbearable schedule, 1pm - 9pm.  His days off are Monday and Tuesday.  Which pretty much makes going to church (1-4pm) impossible.  Vince has tried and tried to make something work with his Stg. (like trading shifts with another willing officer on Sundays), but he is all about power and won't let him switch! ??  So if Vince is lucky, every once in a while, he will be able to use some vacation hours so he can make it to church.  UGH!!  I don't have a lot of patience for illogical nonsense.  I am, on the other hand, completely proud of my husband, who stands up for what he knows is right.  Even when it is not the popular thing to do!
So... tough to go to church without Vince.  I miss sitting next to him, PLUS the kids (W,B,Bry) were completely irreverent!  Today Brenna was full of the wiggles, and acted like she was 4!  Wyatt kept bothering Bryant and asking him to ask me if he could color. (I guess thinking I would let Bryant and then Wyatt could join in.)  Preston was wonderful!  He truly is growing up and ready for the responsibilities of the Priesthood!  Hopefully next Sunday will be the day! (fingers crossed!)  Riley bore his testimony today in Sacrament.  It was a wonderful surprise, as he walked up to the pulpit from the back door usher position.  I am so thankful that he is able to share his thoughts and beliefs with others.  It lifted me.  ...So I started off feeling a bit sorry for myself and as I write this, I can see how very blessed I really am!!  :)

Saturday.  A very exciting soccer game this morning!!  Nana and Papa came out to see Preston and Wyatt in action!  Wyatt is an awesome defender and Preston made a goal (almost had 2... it was so close!!) Vince is a great coach!  He needs a megaphone, (instead of losing his voice every Saturday morning!)  Maybe we all need megaphones!!  (We like to cheer :)

Sunday.  Another wonderful day of Conference.  Love General Conference!  I just soak in the words of wisdom.  I feel renewed and motivated.  This weekend has been extra special because Riley -on his own- has watched every session of conference!  Saturday morning while recording conference, we went to the kids soccer games.  Riley didn't want to go, but didn't say why.  I came back home to grab Brenna's goalie gloves and saw Riley intently watching conference.  At first I thought he had heard me open the garage and "assumed the position" :)  , that is the paranoid mother in me.  But later he told me a few things that I had missed and then was the first to turn on the TV for the afternoon session.  This continued all weekend and I am a happy mom!  I have always hoped to instill a love of General Conference in my children.  I remember before we had BYU channel on our TV, taking Riley to conference at the stake center as a baby and as a toddler.  Bringing snacks and books and toys hoping that I would be able to  "listen" to as much as I could with a baby in tow.  I remember thinking that it was important that I just GO, even if I didn't hear every word.  That maybe just by our example, our children would know how important it was to hear from our prophet.   ... Yes, it has been a good weekend!

Saturday.  Soccer games and Conference.  Vince is coaching Preston and Wyatt's team this year.  Brenna also had a game today and Nana and Papa were able to come out to watch.  Vince has been working with the school to help improve our soccer field.  I'm very proud of his efforts and it made a huge difference for todays games.  We love our little place on earth.  Red Rock is still such a small neighborhood, but it has many wonderful people who are all working for the same goal of making our community a great place to live.

We also enjoyed General Conference.  Oh, how I look forward to Conference!  Today was a big day for Preston who got to attend his first Priesthood Session.  (Although not as easy as it sounds!)  Vince's new schedule is 1-9pm.  AWFUL, I KNOW!  Vince made a lot of effort to make sure he could take our boys to the Priesthood session.  After some issues, Vince was allowed to use some vacation hours, so he could take off early to go to conference.  I hope my boys see the sacrifice (without the complaining) that their dad makes on their behalf.  I also hope they see how important it is to hear the words of our prophet.  I'm so thankful for Vince and what a great example he is to our family.  So thankful today! :)
